The New Jersey Law Journal has published an article by Yankwitt LLP attorney Michael Reed titled, “The Extraterritorial Reach of the NJWPL.” The article discusses a recent case, Ortiz v. Goya Foods, that held that New Jersey’s wage and hour laws do not apply extraterritorially, even in the face of a choice of law clause suggesting otherwise. In the article, Michael explores the argument of Ortiz and identifies a tension between Ortiz and case law construing the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
