New York Law Journal Publishes Second Installment of Three-Part Series on Strategies to Reduce Litigation Costs

The New York Law Journal published the article, “Controlling Litigation Costs: Automatic Trial Stays Pending Appeal of a Summary Judgment Denial,” by partners Russell Yankwitt and Dina Hamerman in the October 4, 2019, issue of the newspaper. In the article, Russell and Dina suggest a way to alleviate the strain on plaintiffs and defendants and overburdened trial courts is to amend the New York Consolidated Laws, Civil Practice Law and Rules (CPLR) to encourage discretionary stays of the underlying trial while an appeal of a dispositive summary judgment motion is pending. This is the second of a three-part series to be published in the New York Law Journal that suggest strategies to mitigate escalating litigation costs.
