The Southern District of New York has granted preliminary approval to a wage and hour settlement in a putative class action brought against Yankwitt LLP’s small business client. Following lengthy negotiations, Yankwitt LLP achieved a favorable settlement with an extended payment term and without its client admitting liability. The settlement enabled the client to avoid bankruptcy and focus on running a successful business. A final approval hearing on the proposed settlement is scheduled before the Hon. Vincent Briccetti for October 2021.The case is Chavez et al. v Morano Landscape Garden Designs, Ltd., Civil Action No. 17-cv-08484-VB (SDNY)
