One of our favorite summer traditions is the Yankwitt LLP mid-year newsletter, where we celebrate our recent achievements with colleagues, clients, judges, friends and family on the anniversary of the firm’s founding.
This year, on July 8th, we celebrated our 14th anniversary, and to mark the momentous occasion, we are highlighting 14 significant accomplishments from the first half of 2023 for your reading enjoyment.
Awards, Awards, Awards, Awards
#1: We are proud to announce that our firm has received the prestigious Business Council of Westchester Hall of Fame Award for Small Business Success, an award highly esteemed in Westchester County.
#2: Our Managing Partner Russell Yankwitt has been recognized as one of the Top CEO & Business Leaders by 914Inc. and was featured in the July/August issue of the magazine. He was also honored at a special event at Salem Golf Club on August 28th.
#3: Yankwitt LLP also continues to be selected as a top law firm and Russell as a top lawyer in commercial litigation by Chambers USA and Benchmark Litigation, and earn the highest rankings in Best Lawyers, Best Law Firms, and Super Lawyers.
#4: For the third consecutive year, the firm has been named one of the top 10 Best Small Companies to Work for in New York.
Bolstering Our Bench
#5: The latest addition to our all-star firm is counsel Corey Briskin. Corey is an accomplished trial attorney with an impressive background. He has served as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan and a federal law clerk in the District of Connecticut. He consistently delivers exceptional service to our clients and has become an indispensable member of our team.
Giving Back to Our Community
#6: Yankwitt LLP has launched the 2023-2024 Yankwitt LLP Immediate Impact Scholarship at Pace Law School, open to incoming students of color who demonstrate financial need and are passionate about social justice. This scholarship was first offered in 2020 and is part of Yankwitt LLP’s unwavering commitment to improving diversity in the legal profession.
#7: Yankwitt LLP is a Presenting Sponsor of the Legal Services of the Hudson Valley’s Equal Access to Justice Dinner. The firm provides both financial and pro-bono support to this critical organization serving those in legal need in our Westchester community. Yankwitt LLP’s sponsorship follows the firm’s substantial 2022 donation to the LSHV in lieu of the traditional holiday gift. (Don’t worry, you’ll get your swag in 2023).
#8: The firm held a Day of Service for Volunteer New York! where attorneys, staff, and their families assembled personal hygiene gift bags for the homeless. Giving back together is always a winning combination.
#9: Russell Yankwitt continues to set the bar for service to our legal community with his appointment to the Executive Board of the Westchester County Bar Association.
White Collar and Government Investigations Practice Takes Off
#10: This spot highlights the exponential growth of our active White Collar Criminal Defense & Government Investigations Practice. Led by Russell and former USAO White Plains Criminal Division Chief Benjamin Allee, the practice is currently handling high-profile cases related to cryptocurrency bankruptcies and securities fraud investigations involving influential individuals and targets. Additionally, the firm has been retained by companies to conduct and advise on internal investigations of suspected misconduct.
And the Winner Is . . .
#11: Congratulations to Benjamin Allee, Dina Hamerman, and Scott Wenzel on a brilliant appellate win on behalf of the Irish Dancing Association of North America Mid-Atlantic Region and affiliated individuals, as the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit unanimously affirmed the Southern District of New York’s granting of our motion to dismiss a defamation and tortious interference with business relations action against Yankwitt LLP’s clients.
An Impressive Summer Associate Class
#12: We expanded our summer class to three outstanding rising 3L law students, including Madison Powers, who serves as Editor-in-Chief of Pace Law School’s Law Review; Amanda Dinkin, who serves as President of the Pace Jewish Bar Association and Vice President of the law school’s Student Bar Association, and Daniella Vincent, who serves as the Managing Editor of Delaware Law School’s Law Review.
All three have proven to be a welcome and meaningful addition to our team.
Taking the Time to Recharge and Just Have Fun
#13: We had a blast at our annual Summer Soiree at Sam’s of Gedney Way, where the entire firm had a chance to reconnect with faces old and new.
#14: And last but not least, the firm took time off to recharge with a hugely successful class at the Stretch Lab in White Plains for Employee Appreciation Day.
